What Harvey did next

Redding RV park

First we got lost in Redding. We called in at a store, but I forget which one. Eventually we located Redding RV Park, where we knew we could get propane, and Don spotted a welder so popped in there to get the generator manifold bracket welded ($10, good deal). I called the park. It had closed ten minutes before. (Stopping for welding had made no difference; leaving at 3 and getting lost did.) Did I tell you how much Redding’s road layout sucks, yet?

Then we went shopping, or rather Don drove me to places like Target and Food Maxx and I did the shopping. Then we drove all the way back to the abovementioned RV park and camped for the night, since Redding is not overnighter-friendly.

Bah, too bad you didn’t have me along. I know the mean streets of Redding. That’s where I learned to drive, after all. ;)

hey i know you said at some point you got cell service - did you by chance go with verizon? if so there is a great mapping and navigation product you can choose to use on a monthly or single 24 hour period for just this kind of thing. it’s really been a God-send for me with all my work travel. i’ll be glad to email you details if you did go with verizon and you have interest.

    * grin * I would be willing to have you as my tour guide anytime it isn’t snowing. We are waiting with bated breath for Thanksgiving, where there is a “chance of snow” for the first time!

Are you still coming to the Unconvention?

Where are all the snarfs in Redding? Is there a “historic downtown” area?

    * hugs * We have GPS units, but the trouble was we didn’t have waypoints for the places we needed. I haven’t done anything about the cellphones yet. Things move at the speed of treacle around here but, yes, it’s likely to be Verizon, as that’s one of two providers that work in Weaverville!

But do please email me the goodies! It will be interesting. :)
