We’re still here
Filed in BlogThe storm came over twice more last night, and then we got some sleep. This morning, there’s a light rain, and the mountains are swathed in mist like flimsy nightgowns.
The mosquitos aren’t deterred. ;)
A few growls of thunder are still echoing around. The storm doesn’t seem to be very close, and I get the sense that it’s dying out, finally.
It’s been a very fun few hours.

That area gets more big thunderstorms than any place I’ve lived in California. (It’s still nothing compared to the Great Plains, Midwest, and southeastern US.) When I was little, the power grid was wimpy, and a few times every summer, storms would roll through, we’d lose power, and have to eat hot dogs and popcorn cooked in the fireplace for dinner: Woe! We loved it.

Our power flicked in and out several times that evening, as well. No fireplace for us, but I can relate–it sounds a bit like Bonfire Night with spuds cooked in the fire, and caramel apples. :)
