Unsettledness
Filed in BlogThe cats are bouncing off the walls, fighting. Outside, it’s deeply overcast, the beginning of a strong rain system that is supposed to last through the weekend. I think our lovely afternoons of sitting in the sunshine are over!
I am unsettled as well, finding it hard to focus on anything. I’m a bit of a human barometer, but there are one or two other things going on as well, not least that I managed to break my beautiful search program…humph.
I have learned that when dealing with incredibly complex code, it’s a good idea to test that it still works after every change. I think the easiest thing will be if I just start from scratch, make the basic changes that need making, then work on the refinements some other time. It’s still disappointing, though.
We got back around 6:30 last night after a flying visit down to Redding. We got propane, foodstuffs, and fixed the generator. Or rather, Don did. This is actually rather pleasing. :) I am surprised to find that there is a giant sandpit now at the Shasta/Trinity County pass. They are taking out a couple of the more fun curves on highway 299–what spoilsports! That road, on a bike at least, is like a wonderful dance. (In an RV, it makes me a bit seasick…and this time the freezer opened up, spilling food every which way.)
Don and I missed the turnoff yesterday, in the near-dark, and ended up having to do a 5? 7? point turn down a really very steep and interesting little side road–probably a forestry road. Don said that going down, the RV was losing traction a bit. I’m rather glad I didn’t notice…and that my husband is an excellent driver. ;)
Ah well, since I can’t focus on anything, I’m going to go for a little walk. That’ll help, I’m sure.

Caligula cat is acting the same way. She loves to sit on the tiles with the front door open to soak up the sunshine. She’s old and the heat feels good to her. With the approaching rain she’s been pouting.

Did the walk help?
Cassy and Livvy are at war with one another, although I think my darling boy is deliberately annoying my precious princess… I’m tempted to toss them both out in the rain. Perhaps it’s good I never had children of the human variety…

Our cats have discovered the joys of the heating pad. We have one of those heating pads you use for sore backs, but they also warm the bed up nicely. And then the cats sit on them. *grin*
Now it’s actually raining (and how!) they have settled down…
Scritchies to Caligula!

It did! I actually fetched a rake and raked a large area clear of pine needles. With incoming rain (and how!) that is a real hazard, because it’s slick, slick, slick.
Yeah, it’s not like you can really give the cats a timeout! ;)
