It’s a hundred and two degrees!!! Don has rigged up a little sail outside my window; every so often a rare breeze catches it and wafts in a delicious teasing of cool air. My t-shirt air conditioning (soak a t-shirt, wince as you don it, and then feel nice and cool) needs replenishing every 20 minutes.

Today is Markeroni’s 5th birthday, I’m trying to program, and I have reached the time of day when it’s just impossible to be inside and I must therefore move to outside, where it’s a little bit less close.

This is strength-sapping, mind-destroying heat and it would not be overkill to say that I hate it.
