Thursday Thirteen #1: 13 things that help when breaking camp
Filed in Systems and Organization, Thursday Thirteen
- Do all your dish washing and putting away the previous night. You won’t have time in the morning.
- If you can, dump your tanks the previous night, too. It takes a while and eats into your nice fresh daylight.
- Place all the loose kitchen trays into the sink for transit, and put bathroom trays away.
- Tie down everything that you think will come loose with bungee cords.
- Ensure that all closets are shut and that the toilet seat is down. (Last time, the toothbrush ended up on the ground, not down the loo…but still!
- Make sure that you have disconnected all hook-ups, put up the awnings and raised the jacks.
- Set an alarm clock an hour prior to check-out to help give you a kick in the patootie if needed.
- Make sure your cats are corralled into the cage/s well in advance. Otherwise, you’ll be playing hunt-the-moggie.
- Retract the TV antenna.
- Lock down the fridge. (There is a slide bolt to ensure that it won’t swing open.)
- Close windows, especially those right next to the exhaust/s.
- Take a picture of your camp for posterity, if you didn’t already.
- Swing by the front office, especially if you have feedback or equipment to return.
The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged! If you participate, leave the link to your Thirteen in others comments. It’s easy, and fun! Be sure to update your Thirteen with links that are left for you, as well! I will link to everyone who participates and leaves a link to their 13 things. Trackbacks, pings, comment links accepted!

My wife and I used to rent a pop-up to go camping at a near by lake. Loved it. We just haven’t done it in years. It’s probably time to do it again and take the grand kids.
Happy TT.
