The completion of Ewok City

Filed in Blog

As of today, Ewok City is complete. We weren’t able to leave as expected because, in the end, it didn’t all fit. Surprise! So we grabbed one of the old platforms, firmly attached it, and now we even have an Ewok King throne for C3PO to sit on, if he ever shows up (it’s one of the van seats).

While Don did most of the construction, I passed sticks of balsa wood 2×4s to him, and I also cleared the boxes, bags of trash and swept much of the dust out of the old shed until I started sneezing so hard that my head exploded. There was a strong wind and it made tossing the cardboard into the recycle gondolas sort of “interesting.”

Tomorrow we’ll tackle the freezer, for which we (hope we) have cleared sufficient space, we’ll clean up, and after that we can finally stop banging our heads, shins and arms on bruise-inducing stuff and get the heck out of here. Though we might wait until after the commute is over.

I have to admit that yesterday was more fun, though. I hooked up with Amber to have breakfast and say farewell, and we ended up running amok in Lodi and finding two new snarfs. Too bad I can’t find the embroidery floss I was hoping to pass on. ;) Then we (Don and I) spent the evening at a campground with electrickery and wireless, and I stayed up until 2 in the morning reading blogs, news and just generally not wanting to go to bed because I am feeling that internet-deprived. ;)

So that’s it. We didn’t throw much away. We created a monster, and it even has a rope ladder. And we’re ready, oh so very ready, to move on and get our lives back. ;)
