Thursday Thirteen #2–13 Thanksgiving Things I will be serving from my RV kitchen tomorrow
Filed in Food, Thursday Thirteen
- Turkey (I have a frozen white meat “roast-in-a-box”. A real turkey won’t fit in my freezer, and I gave up on them a long time ago since my husband eats about enough for a sparrow. This is a good compromise.)
- Julienne carrots.
- Baby red potatoes.
- Brussels sprouts.
- Stuffing.
- Cranberry sauce.
- Butter and gravy. Not necessarily together.
- A small pumpkin pie with fresh cream. Yay for bakers who realize that some people don’t have ten people round the table!
- Spumante wine.
- Home-made cheese straws (if any survive overnight).
- Girardelli mint chocolate squares.
- Complete Thanksgiving in a can cat food. No, I am not kidding. There really is such a thing.
- Tums.
What about you? What’s for dinner? (Even if it’s not Thanksgiving Dinner, what’s for dinner?)

Well, tomorrow is the first time I’ve had to make my own Thanksgiving dinner. We moved far away from family this year, so it’s just me, my husband and our 2 little ones. But I’m making:
turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, green beans, rolls, acorn squash, sweet potatoes, pumpkin chiffon pie and apple cider. I also made some homemade honey whole wheat bread for our breakfast. :)
My TT is up too… http://redsoxmommy.blogspot.com/2007/11/thursday-thirteen-9-thankful-edition.html

Thanks for the reminder I need Tums :)
Very nice menu.
My son (15) made the pumpkin pie tonight, and I will make my famous sausage stuffing to dinner at my in-laws…we always have my husband’s homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast.
End the night with a turkey sandwich of course.

Mmmm… Cheese straws. I should learn how to make those.

Robin: cheese straws is one of the first things I ever learned how to bake. Would you like the recipe? Do you prefer grams or ounces?

When my husband and I get a hankering for turkey we sometimes get turkey wings or legs. They are small enough to not be much waste. They would probably fit in your RV oven too. Happy TT.

We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here but I love the concept behind this special celebration.

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We had the traditional dinner with That Man’s family. (I supplied the pumpkin pies and cranberry salad.)

hello Linda!
Wow… that’s a sumptuous dinner! Thanksgiving dinner… turkey… too bad we don’t have the one here. But at least, it’s a Labor Thanksgiving holiday here - no work today! For me, that’s a very good reason to celebrate. :D
By the way, thank you for visiting.
Happy Thanksgiving!

That sounds great! I hope you had a lovely meal. No Thanksgiving here like Shiera mentioned but at least it was a day off. Not sure what’s for dinner- we usually end up eating out on weekends.

Sounds very goodly! (…and I like the addition of the Tums! I wish my mom had remembered those during some of the big feasts she served!)

Pussreboots: We’re spoilt brats and like the white meat. The “meat loaf” version worked very well in the end :: grin ::

Rach: Yup, me too. I’m a Brit so this isn’t my natural-born celebration, but the gratitude part of it is nice.

Melissa: one of my cats refused point blank to eat the stuff. The other two were suspicious but eventually polished it off. *grin*

Matthew: indeed! We didn’t need the Tums because I planned enough food for two and we left the pie until much, much later *grin*
