Some random parking lot

We made it back to the storage shed safely, though it was certainly quite exciting. We would start with my rear tire overinflated–to 45 pounds rather than their usual 32–which makes things like turning quite…unusual. Then every few miles we’d stop to check. Slowly the air would leak out but this time enough stuck around that there was no need to restock. On the other hand, by the time I’d ridden the 30 or so miles, I was down to about 30 pounds.

We took the tire off, again, and the tube out, again. The leak could be heard, but was elusive. Eventually we took the entire tube indoors and dunked it until we saw the bubbles coming out. One of the older patches had failed. We put a new patch on and reinserted the tire. All this, of course, took several hours.

I’m trying not to count my chickens and all that, but when we left Beastie in the shed and took Harvey out to find a pad for the night, the air had stayed in the tire for at least an hour. If it’s still there in the morning, we’ll be on the road.

    (The cats ADORE you. I may need to buy them wet food regularly now. They scarf it down like they did when they were kittens.)
