Small world adventures
Filed in BlogMy labyrinth is getting bigger, a few stones at a time. Kerry left us the quad bike with trailer attached, so I should be able to haul a few more rocks over. Still, I find that doing it a few at a time is somehow more appropriate than doing it efficiently…on the other hand, a hundred degrees and a wheelbarrow full of rocks don’t mesh too well, either. ;)
Sadly, the third chicken was killed this morning and so the chickens are going away to safer parts. I will miss them. But I did get hold of the cat and gave him a good combing and was surprised at how mellow he was, given that he is a long-haired outdoor cat in a woodland environment. Just use your imagination. (By the way, the cat is not the chicken-killer.)
But anyway, Ed came round to see us. His little family group is going away for a few days, too. So he asked if we could critter-sit for them, too. :: grin :: Don and I hopped in the car and went up the hill to learn the ropes.
They fed us burritos and wine and we got to see the teeniest baby goat imaginable. Our next few days will be wonderful. And Tina’s mom was here–she only happens to be from England, and because I went to college in Lancaster we had many places in common, not to mention an interest in history.
This morning for reasons I won’t go into here I was in a deep blue funk. And now I’m not in the slightest. Living up here is a salve for the soul. :)
