Shasta-Trinity visitor center

A few miles outside Redding highway 299 leads you to this scenic overlook. I’d been here before, in 2001, when I visited for the Women on Wheels® ride-in with my friend from Alaska. There wasn’t too much we could do with the time we had, but we walked around and looked at gorgeous Lake Shasta.
I didn’t realize this was the National Park Service, and I didn’t have my National Parks passport with me. I’ve subsequently brought it on board!
When we first started to pack to leave our Sunnyvale home, I tucked “road trip” items away in a big blue tote. Most of those items are now in the rig…
It was a little awkward to turn around. The parking lot is one-way and we were facing the wrong way, parked on its edge as we were. So, Don took us forward and to a turnout from which we had to turn left. Traffic was sparse but it tended to barrel, and the one thing Harvey can’t do is scurry. We managed it eventually.

I love the image of Harvey trying to scurry in my head. You’re right - it doesn’t work so well. :)

* chuckle * “Lumbers” might be more fitting.
