Schemes afoot
Filed in BlogWe’re getting ready to take Harvey for his first longer jaunt–should be around a 350 mile round trip. I’m already looking forward to the gas station visits. Not.
Seriously–we’re getting to be over Lodi, and can’t imagine sticking around for another eighteen months. The region is lovely, but the campground is…well, a campground, right next to the freeway, without shade trees.
We’re looking for a more independent setup–quite possibly buying some land. Right now the idea is a mere twinkle in our eye, not a plan: those who know me know that I no longer make plans because they never work out.
But we’re both thinking that either we’d like to rent a space where there are more trees than little yappy dogs, or just own a pad where we might ultimately build one of these or maybe even one of these.
And right now the only three places in California where we can afford land are in the Mojave Desert, the Shasta area, or northeastern California (Modoc) where there happens to be a village called Ravendale. Naturally none of these come with temperate climates, but…hey.
Might come to nothing. But it’ll be a fun distraction to find out. Much more fun than doing my taxes, even.

The tiny house is really lovely. It reminds me of the Unibomber’s home…….only much nicer. Good luck. The Shasta area is beautiful, if you haven’t already checked it out. Very woodsy.

I last went to Shasta in 2001, and you’re right, it’s gorgeous. :)
