Queen of the sewer hose
Filed in Blog, MaintenanceI’ve been frustrated because the sewer hose, which connects in the center with a bayonet fitting, was too stiff for me to uncouple and fasten back up. This meant that I couldn’t break camp solo if I needed to (for example if Don got the ‘flu or hurt his foot or something).
One thing I was really determined to do when I moved in here was be able to handle the basic running of the rig and know what to do. I’ve done very well with that and have the basics down now, but this one thing was beating me.
Then the gray water valve started sticking and I was afraid I’d hurt my back trying to close and open the thing.
Anyway, Don went out there yesterday and discovered that the valve had something stuck in it–a circle of wax paper or something similar, he tells me. It no longer does and, freshly greased, I can close it with two fingers. He also coated the bayonets on the sewer hose in grease, and for the first time I can open it without the remotest bit of trouble.
So, I’m now queen of the sewer hose, and all must bow down before me. ;)
