Our wheels are annoying
Filed in BlogHey! It’s June.
We’re at Camp Flying J in Corning, just for a change. ;) It was dark when we arrived, and the first thing on the menu was a nice shower with water freshly added from the roadside rest stop. ;)
After we left Marysville, we took highway 20 which was pretty and wonderful and even had a snarf. Then we got onto the freeway around Williams or Willows or whatever that W-town is at the 20/5 interchange.
The “our wheels are being annoying” theme continues. I was riding along minding my own business when the right rear hub cap on the rig decided to make for a bid for freedom. Bummer! Fortunately, Super-Biker-Raven was on alert to catch all RV-expunged items. I quickly pulled over and did a little jog back to fetch the thing, then realized it was too big for my saddlebag. So I stuck it on the tank with a cargo net and finally got to ride faster than 55mph until I reached our pre-agreed rendezvous, the next rest stop. (If you are traveling in convoy and one of you is a biker, you’d better know where your next stop is supposed to be: cellphones on a bike are possible, but not very sensible.)
Don was wondering where I was. He was quite surprised when I pointed out the hub cap. ;)
So, anyway, we’re now 50 or 60 miles from Redding, and the idea is to go there, find internet, and figure out whether we will go up the mountain today, or tomorrow.
