Our RV is a prima donna
Filed in MaintenanceHappy New Year, all!
Over the last few days a nasty stain appeared in our bathroom. We thought it was the cat, so I soaked it in Nature’s Miracle. Unfortunately, that didn’t really help because the leak was from our bath. It has a crack in the base and the previous owners stuck one of those little rubber flowers that serves as an anti-slip grip over it to hide this fact.
Don has patched the leak, but it’s not a permanent solution.
Yesterday, the part of the toilet that flushes stopped working. We are currently flushing with a bottle of water, until such a point as Don gets the right tools: the mechanism is very awkward to reach.
And today! Today, the switch that switches between shore power and generator power failed completely. Don ripped out the control box and found a blown diode at the back. My job was to hold the end of a stray wire and make sure it didn’t hit metal, thus causing a fire. Of course, this all happened after dark, too. ;)
I can’t help but find this funny–and I’m so very glad that I’m married to someone who took electronics at college and has more practical skill in his little finger than I do in my entire body. ;)
It would appear that Harvey the RV is a high-maintenance vehicle. ;)

What does the accronym RV mean? sorry, really stoopid question if you live in America but in Africa, it’s odd. We have the word mobile home, but that would be MH….

Hi Andrea! It stands for “recreational vehicle”. A mobile home here is more of a cabin that stays put…we used to live in one.
Happy New Year!
