Gof
Filed in BlogBack in the 70s the weathermen on the BBC had to deal with little sticky clouds and suns rather than acting to a blank screen. From time to time those stickers would fall off, causing much amusement, and once, notably, the FOG sticker went on backwards, reading “Gof.” These things are immortalized in the It’ll Be All Right on the Night series, a franchise that deals in movie and TV bloopers.
The last few days, it’s been foggy. Yesterday we went out and started bumping into things as there was not a drop of light to be had. Somewhere up there was a moon and it eventually penetrated with a grim and eerie glow, and we had some fun lighting up the cold moisture with our flashlights and laser pointer. There wasn’t a sound to be heard; the creatures of the forest were hunkering down, keeping warm.
This morning I couldn’t even see the mountain. Not just its tip was missing, but the whole mountain. Even now, two hours later, it only just seems to be starting to clear. We are swathed in a cold blanket, and I’m glad of heating and walls.
