The starting of a fire
Filed in Blog, Daily Image
We had fire pits at the state park, too, but didn’t build a fire until we got to Sandy Beach. I’m getting the hang of it…start with some paper and twigs, then build it up in layers until your log ignites. We got rid of more paper and junk.
We put on a can of stew to cook. Then the campground host, an elderly gentleman, came over to talk, and talk, and talk. It was nice to get some hints and information about what being a campground host entailed. He was a pleasant, mellow old guy.
Essentially you commit to a certain period of time as a volunteer in exchange for free camping, and have a 20 hour day in which you make sure all is well with your happy campers, sell them firewood and sometimes do other projects.
