I have some catchup to do, huh? Here we go.

We spent the night at Redding RV Park, close to the freeway but not so close that the traffic was a disturbance. In fact, with its views of the mountains and forests, it was a very pleasant and peaceful place to stay the night. Arriving after hours, we got to do after-hour registration for the first time; I chose a place near the laundry room *grin*.

We partook of the included wireless, though I didn’t get nearly as much done as I wanted to. We dawdled too much along the way, but I wouldn’t have missed my snarfari in Red Bluff for anything. (More about that on Raven’s Roads, some other time.)

In the morning I hauled, with great effort, our huge bag of dirty laundry and filled two machines. An hour and a half later we had clothes to wear that didn’t smell bad, and there was much rejoicing. I left my size-14 jeans in the storage shed; I can squeeze into them, but they always leave me feeling miserable, so I’ll pick them up when I really am that size again. It’s just a matter of time, now.

Then, armed with a map and my painstakingly scribbled notes, we hit the main commercial part of town–you know, that area of any reasonably sized city which is full of big-box stores. Several hours later we’d enjoyed Panda Express Chinese fast food, as well as stocking up on food, doing our banking, picking up a pair of food scissors in Target, and failing to find the book I wanted in Barnes & Noble. At last we were ready to leave (urban) civilization for a while.
